What can I get out of a city break?
Just one city? Don’t worry about getting bored! You have the chance to completely immerse yourself in the city and get to know every aspect of it. Unlike a language holiday, a city break is all about being on holiday. You only do what YOU want to do!
In lots of large cities you can find historical sites as well as modern art and culture. Go to impressive museums or delve into a vibrant nightlife, watch the world go by in a busy park or take a guided tour of the city. There is no limit to what you can do.
In addition to seeing the architecture and landmarks, getting to know other cultures and religions is incredibly valuable because being able to understand other mentalities is essential in the modern business world. You are sure to gain tolerance and a more open-minded attitude on your city break, and with a bit of luck a few new friends as well!
What do I have to be aware of?
City breaks are particularly well suited to older children and teenagers. Don’t worry, you’re not completely on your own! A lot of operators offer group trips. The advantage is clear: experienced tour guides, who know what young people are interested in, are there to answer all your questions and organise various excursions to the top sightseeing attractions. They know the city and can certainly give you a few insider tips! And if something should happen you can ask them for help at any time of the day or night.
You have to be aware that your parents decide if you are allowed to travel alone if you are still under 18. If you are, then they have to sign the travel contracts for you.
It is also very important that you check what is already included in the price of your trip and which extra costs you have to cover. Make sure you have enough pocket money for your trip too!
Before you leave, don’t forget that every country has different entry conditions. You need to have your passport, vaccinations and visa in good time before you travel.
When is the right time to go on a city break?
You can visit cities throughout the whole year, but if you are a big fan of dry weather and summer temperatures then find out about the seasons in your chosen city and fly with Lufthansa at the right time. Otherwise: there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing! Pack your raincoat and umbrella and go! You can top up your tan all through the year with Lufthansa.
